Bone density scan/DXA

So that your bones are preserved

The bone density scan (DXA = dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry) allows the determination of the bone mineral content or bone mineral density. This is the most popular and well-proven measurement method. It is the “gold standard” worldwide and in all international therapy studies. The DXA method was developed in the 1980s, and it began to be used globally in 1988. Two energy beams of different intensity are sent through the skeleton. Bone density can be calculated from the quantity of radiation that goes through the bone. The lumbar spine and hips (right and/or left) are measured. The test generally lasts 10 minutes and is totally pain-free, with a very low dose of radiation.
